Despite being developed with modern infrastructure, Cherlapally Railway Terminal continues to pose difficulties for passengers due to inadequate transport connectivity. Inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 6, 2025, the terminal offers trains to major cities such as Kolkata, Chennai and Bengaluru. However, reaching the station from several parts of Hyderabad remains a challenge, particularly for commuters from Lingampally and Kukatpally. The lack of adequate local train and TSRTC bus services has forced many passengers to depend on private transport. Commuters say a cab ride from Panjagutta to Cherlapally costs around ₹450, while an auto ride costs approximately ₹350. Traffic congestion and limited alternative transport options have added to their difficulties.
Passengers have called for improved last-mile connectivity, including feeder trains timed to connect with long-distance services, dedicated buses from areas such as Mehdipatnam and Borabanda, and more MMTS trips in both directions. They have also suggested coordinating bus services from LB Nagar with train departure schedules. Meanwhile, Sridhar, Chief Public Relations Officer of South Central Railway, said two pairs of MMTS services were operating between Lingampally and Cherlapally. He added that technical constraints were affecting plans to introduce more services from Secunderabad. Ongoing railway line expansion projects could create scope for additional trains once completed.
