TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud welcomed the Telangana High Court’s verdict disqualifying Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender. Speaking to the media during his visit to Delhi, Goud said the verdict was like a “slap” to BRS and its president K Chandrashekar Rao. He also expressed confidence that the Khairatabad Assembly constituency belongs to the Congress. The High Court had set aside the Speaker’s decision in the defection case and declared Nagender’s Assembly seat vacant.
Goud alleged that the culture of political defections was introduced by the KCR-led BRS. He referred to the induction of former TDP MLA Talasani Srinivas Yadav and Congress MLA Sabitha Indra Reddy into the BRS and their subsequent appointment as ministers. Goud also alleged that the BJP has a history of bringing down governments and splitting political parties, and accused the party of damaging the democratic system in the country. These remarks were made by Goud as part of his political criticism of the BRS and BJP.
