The Indian rupee strengthened by 13 paise against the US dollar on Tuesday, closing at 94.71 in the foreign exchange market. The domestic currency received support from gains in the Indian stock markets and an inflow of foreign funds. During the trading session, the rupee touched an intraday high of 94.60 in the interbank forex market, reflecting improved investor sentiment and demand for the domestic currency.
However, the rupee's gains were partly limited by rising crude oil prices and ongoing geopolitical uncertainty. In the previous trading session, the currency had closed at 94.84. According to Sharekhan analyst Anuj Choudhary, buying by foreign institutional investors provided significant support to the rupee. Market participants continue to monitor global developments, crude oil prices and foreign investment flows for further cues on the currency's movement.
