The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe in the phone tapping case has intensified with the questioning of BRS Working President and former minister K. T. Rama Rao (KTR). The interrogation began on Friday morning at the Jubilee Hills Police Station, where investigators reportedly focused on the party’s financial transactions, particularly the issue of electoral bonds. Given KTR’s role as the Working President of the BRS, the SIT is said to be examining his knowledge and involvement in party fund-related matters.
The case has gained momentum following allegations that a team led by former SIB chief Prabhakar Rao coerced businesspersons into contributing funds through electoral bonds. According to a complaint filed by businessman Sridhar Rao, he was allegedly forced to arrange electoral bonds worth ₹12 crore for the BRS, along with an additional ₹3 crore through a private settlement. Similar complaints by other businesspersons have also surfaced. Based on these allegations, the SIT is reportedly recording KTR’s statement, including queries related to claims of intimidation involving phone tapping of businesspersons, film personalities, and political leaders.
