Police arrested Telangana Jagruti president Kalvakuntla Kavitha early in the morning during her protest camp in Khammam. Around 600 police personnel surrounded the protest site under the supervision of the city police commissioner. At about 6 a.m., Kavitha, along with leader Visharadhan and several other party members, was taken into custody.
After the arrest, the police began shifting Kavitha from Khammam to Hyderabad. She is expected to reach the Telangana Jagruti office in the city and continue her indefinite hunger strike in support of the Velugumatla victims. Party leaders stated that the protest will continue until justice is delivered to the affected people.
