Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu alleged that YSRCP chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had attempted to create unrest in Pulivendula. He accused Jagan of behaving in a manner that could provoke alliance leaders and police personnel. Naidu urged leaders and workers of the ruling coalition to remain alert, exercise restraint and avoid any provocative actions. He also asked them to strictly follow election guidelines and work towards increasing voter turnout. Any untoward incidents should immediately be brought to the notice of election officials and the police, he said. Naidu made these remarks during a teleconference with senior leaders and party workers of the alliance on Sunday to review the municipal election polling process.
Naidu said polling was progressing peacefully across the state and that voters were displaying considerable enthusiasm compared with previous local body elections. He noted that voters had queued up at polling stations in several municipalities, while turnout remained relatively low in some areas. He asked alliance leaders and workers to encourage every eligible voter to exercise their franchise. He also urged them to extend assistance to elderly people and persons with disabilities who might find it difficult to reach polling stations on their own.
