Tension prevailed at a polling station covering Wards 18 and 19 in Rathalapeta, Pithapuram, Kakinada district, following a dispute over entry permissions. Jana Sena workers staged a protest after alleging that YSRCP and independent candidates, along with their agents, were allowed inside the polling station, while the Jana Sena candidate and agent were denied entry. Kakinada MP Uday Srinivas and Kakinada Rural MLA Pantham Nanaji were also stopped by police when they attempted to enter the polling station.
Following protests by Jana Sena workers, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) eventually permitted the MP and MLA to enter. Meanwhile, Jana Sena supporters alleged that YSRCP leaders had resorted to rigging and demanded repolling in Ward 19. Police intervened and dispersed workers from both YSRCP and Jana Sena. The situation returned to normal after the MP, MLA and Jana Sena leaders left the polling station.
