Superstar Rajinikanth’s action entertainer Jailer 2 is continuing its impressive run at the box office. Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the film witnessed a slight slowdown in its second week but recorded a significant jump in collections on its 17th day. According to trade estimates, the movie earned ₹9.35 crore on Saturday, registering nearly 70 per cent growth compared with Friday’s ₹5.50 crore. Its total India gross collection has reached ₹520.35 crore, while the domestic net collection stands at ₹444.75 crore. The worldwide gross collection is estimated at ₹790.85 crore.
On its 17th day, the film reportedly collected ₹6.70 crore in Tamil, ₹1.45 crore in Hindi, ₹90 lakh in Telugu and ₹30 lakh in Kannada. Trade circles believe that the film could cross the ₹1,000 crore worldwide mark if its strong box-office performance continues. If achieved, it would become the first Tamil film to reach this milestone globally. Produced by Sun Pictures, the film features S. J. Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty and Vidya Balan in key roles, while Mohanlal, Shivarajkumar, Jackie Shroff and Hrithik Roshan appear in special roles.
