Former minister Harish Rao visited the Enumamula agricultural market yard in Warangal to review the situation of cotton procurement. Interacting with farmers, he said the government must immediately ensure a fair Minimum Support Price (MSP) for cotton to ease the distress of farmers. Harish Rao strongly criticized Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, warning that if the government continues to ignore farmers’ issues, they would dump cotton known as “white gold” in front of the Chief Minister’s residence in Jubilee Hills as a mark of protest.
He said farmers were suffering because cotton purchases have stalled, and both state and central governments were failing to protect their interests. He blamed CCI’s decisions for putting farmers in deep trouble, forcing them to sell their produce to middlemen at lower prices.
Harish Rao questioned why Revanth Reddy, despite visiting Delhi multiple times, failed to raise farmers’ issues with central leaders. He also criticized the government for spending huge amounts in Jubilee Hills while neglecting farmers who need MSP.
He demanded the immediate cancellation of the ‘Kapas App,’ saying it was creating more problems for farmers. Harish Rao also noted that the government relaxed import rules for foreign cotton but refused to support local farmers.
He expressed serious concern that 406 farmers had died by suicide so far, questioning how the government could celebrate victories while farmers were in tears. He criticized the state for not providing compensation to farmers affected by recent storms.
Harish Rao visited the cotton market yard along with BRS leaders Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Madhusudhanachari, Challa Dharma Reddy, and Maloth Kavitha.
