Amid intensifying speculation over a leadership change in Karnataka, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar made significant remarks on Friday, emphasizing his faith in hard work and party discipline. Speaking to reporters at the Indian Institute of Science and later in Tiptur, Shivakumar stated, "Where there is effort, there is a reward; where there is devotion, there is God," reflecting his optimistic outlook regarding his political future.
When questioned about reports that the Congress high command has summoned both him and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to Delhi on February 17 to discuss power-sharing, he maintained a guarded stance, saying he was unaware of such a meeting and that "time will provide the answer." Reiterating his loyalty to the party, Shivakumar described himself as a "disciplined soldier of the Congress," asserting that he follows high command orders without interference in other matters. He also dismissed queries regarding reports on MLAs planning foreign trips, stating he has not sought any such information. Meanwhile, the political atmosphere remains charged as his supporters, including MLC Channaraj Hattiholi, openly voiced their aspirations for Shivakumar to take over as Chief Minister, claiming it is the wish of both party workers and the people of the state.
