

Veteran shuttler Kidambi Srikanth advanced to the quarter-finals of the China Masters Super 750 after pulling off a major upset against World No. 9 Victor Lai. In the men’s singles second round, the 33-year-old Indian defeated the Canadian 21-18, 21-19 in straight games to secure his place in the last eight. The star doubles pairing of Satwik Sairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty also progressed to the quarter finals.
In men’s doubles, Satwik and Chirag fought hard to beat French brothers Christo and Toma Junior Popov 21-15, 22-24, 21-9. In women’s singles, rising star Tanvi Sharma put up a strong fight before losing 17-21, 21-18, 16-21 to World No. 9 Tomoka Miyazaki of Japan. In mixed doubles, Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto were defeated 18-21, 18-21 by Liu Kuang and Su Yin of Chinese Taipei in the pre-quarter-finals.
