A major political shift appears to be emerging in West Bengal. According to the P Marq exit polls, the Bharatiya Janata Party alliance is projected to win between 150 and 175 seats, while the Trinamool Congress is expected to be limited to 118 to 138 seats. In a state where Mamata Banerjee has maintained long-standing dominance, these projections are being viewed not as a routine change, but as a possible indication of a power transition.
The credibility of these projections gains further attention due to P Marq’s past track record. The agency had accurately predicted the Trinamool Congress victory in the 2021 elections, strengthening its reliability in public perception. However, the current projections have sparked debate on whether they truly indicate a political shift or simply reflect the usual volatility of exit polls. If the predictions hold true, it could mark a significant political development in the state. If not, it will once again highlight that in West Bengal politics, the final outcome remains uncertain until the last vote is counted.
