Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday formally launched the statewide distribution of new Pattadar Passbooks bearing the state emblem, describing it as a New Year gift to farmers. The distribution drive will be carried out from January 2 to January 9 across Andhra Pradesh, with MLAs and ministers handing over the passbooks to eligible farmers. The programme began amid celebratory scenes in thousands of villages, reflecting the significance of the initiative for the farming community.
Addressing ministers during the launch, the Chief Minister said the government was fulfilling a key promise made during the elections. He alleged that mistakes committed by the previous government had created revenue-related issues in almost every village, even turning dispute-free lands into controversial properties in the name of resurvey. Emphasising that land is the lifeline of farmers, Naidu said the government’s objective is to eliminate land disputes and ensure security for landowners. He stated that the scrapping of the Land Titling Act brought by the previous regime had restored confidence among people and urged ministers and district collectors to work with greater responsibility and within fixed timelines to resolve land-related grievances.
