BRS Legislature Party deputy leader T. Harish Rao questioned why the Chief Minister and ministers were engaged in political activities in Delhi while farmers in Telangana were struggling with mounting problems. He urged the state government to stop advising farmers against sowing crops and instead announce a comprehensive action plan to address power cuts and water shortages. Speaking at a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Monday, alongside BRS MLAs Chinta Prabhakar, Sanjay and others, Harish Rao alleged that the government had ignored warnings about the possible impact of El Niño issued by global scientists and Indian government agencies over the past nine months. He questioned the consequences for farmers and agricultural labourers if cultivation was disrupted, and alleged that instead of providing security and reassurance, the government was creating fear among farming communities.
Harish Rao claimed that the previous BRS government had helped bring migrant workers back to their villages, whereas the current Congress government had once again forced people to migrate in search of livelihoods. He questioned the government's explanation linking El Niño to coal shortages and power supply problems, asking how the weather phenomenon was connected to the availability of coal. He also criticised the government for failing to arrange advance coal supplies from the Naini coal mine, alleging that a lack of foresight had contributed to the situation. Accusing the Revanth Reddy-led government of failing to ensure adequate drinking and irrigation water, Harish Rao called for immediate measures to address farmers' concerns.
