The BJP is reportedly weighing several contenders for a possible Khairatabad Assembly by-election, with former MLA Chintala Ramachandra Reddy, Juturi Keerthi Reddy and Chikoti Praveen emerging as names in political discussions. According to the claims circulating in party circles, Chintala is seeking another opportunity, while Keerthi Reddy is reportedly highlighting the possibility of a woman candidate. Chikoti Praveen is also said to be seeking the party ticket. The BJP leadership is expected to consider factors such as candidate experience, public support and local political equations before making a decision. These reported discussions have not been confirmed as an official candidate selection process.
The constituency is also significant for Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy because Khairatabad falls within the Secunderabad Lok Sabha constituency, which he represents. In the 2024 Lok Sabha election, BJP secured 73,664 votes in the Khairatabad Assembly segment, ahead of Congress, which received 57,124 votes.
However, that result alone does not guarantee victory in an Assembly by-election. There is also an important legal development: the Election Commission of India informed the Telangana High Court that it would not issue a by-election notification until a pending election petition is resolved.
Therefore, the timing of the poll and the BJP’s eventual candidate remain uncertain.
