Telangana BJP president Ramchander Rao said he was ready to accept the challenge reportedly posed by Minister Ponnam Prabhakar over allegations of voter deletions. He asked the minister to bring at least 10 people whose votes had allegedly been deleted to the Chief Electoral Officer’s office. Speaking at the BJP state office on Monday, Rao also suggested that Ponnam bring Asaduddin Owaisi and Akbaruddin Owaisi. He said computer records could be examined to establish that no votes had been deleted without issuing notices and conducting an inquiry. If eligible voters were found to have been removed from the electoral rolls, their names should be restored immediately in accordance with the rules; otherwise, the minister should apologise, he demanded.
Rao also criticised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for attending a meeting with Rahul Gandhi in Delhi instead of focusing on farmers’ problems in Telangana. Referring to the Congress rally in Goa, where the Chief Minister reportedly compared the BJP to Ravana and the Congress to Lord Rama, Rao said political leaders should stop using the names of deities for political purposes. He further warned that Rahul Gandhi would not be allowed to enter Telangana until the Congress government implemented all six guarantees promised to the people.
