Minister Ponnam Makes Key Announcement on RTC-Metro Combined Pass Fares

Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has announced that the fares for combined RTC-Metro travel passes will be reviewed. In a statement issued on Monday, he said concerns had been raised that the existing fares were placing a financial burden on ordinary commuters. Following suggestions from Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, a meeting with senior officials will be held soon to discuss the issue and review the current fare structure.

At present, the daily RTC-Metro combo pass costs ₹400, comprising ₹300 for Metro services and ₹100 for RTC buses. The monthly pass is priced at ₹8,500, of which ₹7,000 goes towards Metro services and ₹1,500 towards RTC. The proposed review is expected to examine the existing charges and address commuters' concerns. Whether the review will lead to a reduction in fares or other changes remains to be seen.
