Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu said that worshipping nature and water is part of India’s tradition. Recalling that sacred aarti was offered to the Godavari and Krishna rivers, he stated that river worship has long been embedded in Indian culture. Speaking in the Assembly on the irrigation sector, he described the Ganga–Cauvery river linking as his long-cherished goal and said the project could significantly ease water scarcity.
The Chief Minister noted that every major initiative begins with a small idea and recalled that discussions on the feasibility of the Ganga–Cauvery link had taken place earlier. He asserted that it is their responsibility to offer “jal harathi” to Telugu Talli through river interlinking. Chandrababu added that most key irrigation projects in the state were executed during NDA or TDP tenures, highlighting the transfer of 100 TMC of water from Pattiseema to Krishna and the progress of the Veligonda project. He also said the Dhavaleswaram barrage continues to keep Sir Arthur Cotton in public memory.
