Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy made key political remarks during an informal media interaction in Delhi. He stated that parties aligning with the BJP may not have long-term political sustainability. Referring to the situations of leaders like Nitish Kumar and Eknath Shinde, he said they are being closely observed and indicated that Chandrababu Naidu’s political position could also move in a similar direction in the future. He further remarked that the BJP is currently giving importance to the TDP due to its limited strength at the Centre, and suggested that once its strength increases, the BJP may sideline the TDP.
The Chief Minister clarified that the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha are primarily meant for making laws, while their implementation rests with state governments. He emphasized that having a two-thirds majority does not justify unilateral decision-making and stated that democracy does not permit authoritarian practices. He questioned the idea of a leader acting like a “king” and framing laws accordingly, saying such a model would not be acceptable and dictatorship would not be tolerated. Referring to Andhra Pradesh, he noted that the opposition holds only 11 seats and said that unilateral decisions in such a scenario are not appropriate. He also expressed his view that women’s reservation should be implemented based on the 2011 census data.
