Cabinet Expansion Delay Assembly Session Postponed

The delay in Karnataka's cabinet expansion is likely to postpone the upcoming Assembly session, creating uncertainty over the government's legislative schedule. With only 13 ministers currently in office, the government faces challenges in handling crucial issues such as drought conditions, the NEET controversy, the SIR process, and local body elections during the session. The government is reportedly keen to convene the Assembly only after the cabinet expansion is completed, leading to growing frustration among ministerial aspirants and the public awaiting the session for the past four months.

Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar made efforts to complete the cabinet expansion this week, but the process has been delayed due to the Congress leadership's engagement with the NEET issue in New Delhi. Officials say that after the swearing-in of new ministers, portfolio allocation and administrative preparations would require at least two weeks. With Independence Day events and Congress organisational programmes scheduled around August 15, the Assembly session is now expected to commence only after August 17.
