Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) Director General Shatrujeet Singh Kapur has confirmed that face-offs between Indian and Chinese troops have occurred at multiple locations along the Arunachal Pradesh border and that some confrontations are continuing. Speaking at an ITBP personnel event in Alwar, Rajasthan, he praised the newly formed Shaurya commando teams for their performance during the standoffs. His remarks highlight the continuing security challenges along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), including areas around Arunachal Pradesh’s Taksing sector.
The ITBP is also strengthening its operational preparedness through specialised high-altitude combat training, expanded drone and anti-drone capabilities, upgraded weapons and the construction of underground shelters at border outposts. The force has introduced dedicated drone platoons in its border-guarding battalions and is developing specialised Shaurya commando units to respond to evolving security threats. The developments have triggered a political debate, with Congress leaders questioning the Centre’s handling of the border situation and seeking greater transparency from the government.
