Mumbai Police have launched an investigation after receiving information about a threatening email claiming that Bollywood veteran Amitabh Bachchan’s bungalow would be blown up. The email was reportedly sent to a school in the Bandra-Kurla Complex area of Mumbai on Friday. Police are examining the threat and working to establish whether it specifically refers to Bachchan’s Jalsa or Prateeksha bungalow. Further details about the sender and the credibility of the threat are yet to be confirmed. The incident has prompted authorities to take the matter seriously and investigate the circumstances surrounding the email.
Similar threat emails have reportedly been received by other institutions in Mumbai in the past. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) office previously received a threatening email, following which police conducted searches but found no suspicious objects. On March 20 this year, the Mumbai Press Club also received an email claiming that small bombs containing poisonous gas had been planted inside the building. Searches at the Press Club reportedly found no dangerous objects. Police are continuing to investigate the latest threat and are expected to verify its authenticity.
