Acclaimed filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli has expressed his desire to direct at least one Hollywood film. Speaking at the 50th São Paulo International Film Festival in Brazil, the director shared interesting insights into his Hollywood prospects and his upcoming film, Varanasi. Rajamouli revealed that he received several offers from Hollywood following the global success of RRR. He praised Hollywood’s filmmaking processes and production methods, adding that there was still a great deal for him to learn. However, work on Varanasi had already begun by the time the offers arrived. Explaining that he prefers to focus on one project at a time, Rajamouli said he would consider Hollywood opportunities after completing his current film.
Varanasi, a highly anticipated action-adventure film, stars Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran in lead roles. Rajamouli has also provided a key update on the film’s production, revealing that only around ten days of shooting remain. The screenplay has been written by his father, V. Vijayendra Prasad, along with S.S. Kanchi. The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on April 7, 2027. With the project nearing the completion of its shoot, fans are eagerly awaiting further updates on the ambitious production.
