During the Tamil Nadu election season, actor-turned-politician Vijay is facing trouble as a case has been filed against him for alleged violation of election rules. Based on a complaint by a monitoring officer, police in Chennai’s Peravallur area registered the case. The complaint states that Vijay used around 30 loudspeakers, gathered more than 5,000 people and caused inconvenience to the public, including not giving way to an ambulance during his roadshow.
Following the complaint, police registered a case under multiple sections not only against Vijay but also against nearly 5,000 party workers. The incident took place during his nomination roadshow in Perambur constituency on March 30, which saw a huge turnout of supporters. However, his party leaders alleged that the police failed to provide proper security and did not manage traffic effectively during the event.
The party has requested the Election Commission to ensure proper security and traffic control for future campaign events. Vijay is contesting from two constituencies, Perambur and Trichy East, where he faces candidates from the DMK. Tamil Nadu will go to polls in a single phase on April 23 and the counting of votes will take place on May 4.
