BJP Leader Ramchander Rao Calls Off Hunger Strike

BJP Telangana president N. Ramchander Rao has called off his hunger strike demanding the immediate release of pending fee reimbursement and scholarship dues in the state. The BJP claimed that the Congress government owes around Rs 15,000 crore in pending payments and said the issue has affected lakhs of students. The protest received support from students, unemployed youth, women, intellectuals and party workers, according to the party. Students from several universities and engineering, medical and other professional institutions reportedly participated in the protest. The BJP youth wing also submitted signatures collected from five lakh students in support of the demand.

Ramchander Rao ended the hunger strike after doctors advised him to stop as his health condition deteriorated during the prolonged fast. Senior party leaders and elected representatives urged him to follow medical advice, following which he accepted lemon juice and ended the protest. After calling off the fast, Ramchander Rao said the BJP’s fight for students’ rights would continue and vowed to intensify the agitation until the pending dues were cleared. He also warned that the party would consider further protests, including a possible march towards the state Secretariat, if the government failed to address the issue.
