BJP Telangana president Ramachander Rao began a 48-hour hunger strike on Monday, demanding immediate payment of pending fee reimbursement dues to students. The protest, organised under the banner ‘Fee Dues–BJP Fight’, was launched at the BJP state office after police reportedly denied permission to hold it at Dharna Chowk in Domalguda. Several BJP MPs, MLAs, MLCs, students and lawyers extended their support to the protest.
Ramachander Rao alleged that around 20 lakh students are awaiting fee reimbursement amounting to nearly ₹15,000 crore and said the BJP’s agitation would continue until the government clears the dues. BJP Legislature Party leader Eleti Maheshwar Reddy said poor SC, ST and BC students who depend heavily on reimbursement are being pushed away from higher education because of delayed payments. BJP leaders urged the Telangana government to resolve the issue immediately.
