Visakhapatnam, the financial capital of Andhra Pradesh, is rapidly evolving into a major hub for data centers. Following Google’s proposal to set up a data center in the city, several international companies have also begun exploring investment opportunities in the region. The latest among them is the renowned IT firm Control-S, which has expressed interest in establishing a massive 350-MW data center in Vizag.
Multiple companies have already submitted proposals to the state government to set up data centers in the city. After evaluating these proposals, the government responded positively and directed officials to assist companies in identifying suitable land parcels.
On Wednesday, representatives from Control-S, along with revenue officials, inspected several proposed sites in Visakhapatnam. Additionally, representatives of two other globally recognized organizations also conducted site inspections. Having expressed satisfaction with the available land, these firms are expected to submit their formal proposals soon.
Once submitted, these proposals will move through SIPC, SIPB and could receive final approval during the state cabinet meeting scheduled for the 25th of this month. With all three companies showing keen interest in Vizag, the coastal belt of North Andhra is poised to become a major data center cluster in the near future.
