Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief and popular actor Vijay launched a scathing attack on the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) during a campaign rally in Salem on Friday. Accusing the DMK of corruption and abuse of power, Vijay labeled the ruling party as an "evil force" and positioned his party, TVK, as the force for good. He directly challenged the voters, asking, "Will you vote for the good or for the evil force?" The outburst comes in the wake of the Stalin-led government depositing funds into the accounts of 1.31 crore women beneficiaries under the Kalaignar scheme.
Ahead of the elections, the government credited ₹3,000 (covering February, March, and April) along with a ₹2,000 "Summer Special" bonus. Referring to these cash transfers, Vijay gave a provocative call to the electorate, saying, "Take the money they give... but stand by the Whistle (TVK’s symbol)." Vijay’s remarks have intensified the political heat in Tamil Nadu, as he urged the public to accept the distributed funds while ensuring their loyalty remains with his party at the polling booth. By calling on voters to "blow the whistle," the actor-turned-politician signaled a direct confrontation with the DMK’s welfare-driven election strategy.
