Abhijit Deepke, founder of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), has approached the Delhi High Court challenging the Centre’s decision to block the party’s X account. The petition questions the action taken in the name of national security and seeks relief against the suspension of the social media handle. Advocate Nakul Gandhi filed the petition on behalf of Deepke, and the matter is expected to come up for hearing later this week.
According to national media reports, the action was reportedly taken after the Intelligence Bureau expressed concerns that the CJP account could pose a threat to national security. Following directives from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, X allegedly blocked the account. The CJP movement, which began last month as an online political satire campaign, quickly gained massive popularity among youth on social media platforms, attracting thousands of followers on X and lakhs of followers on Instagram. Deepke, who is based in the United States, launched the movement as a satirical political initiative.
