Andhra Pradesh is celebrating a historic milestone as three lakh families move into their new homes on the same day. This massive event is part of the state government’s mission to provide housing for all poor families. Within just 17 months, the government completed and handed over these houses under the Housing for All program. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated the event virtually from Devagudipalli village in Rayachoti mandal of Annamayya district, interacting with beneficiaries and symbolically handing over house keys.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), 3,00,192 houses have been completed across Andhra Pradesh 2,28,034 under PMAY–BLC, 65,292 under PMAY–Gramin, and 6,866 under PMAY–Janman. All these families will perform Gruhapravesam simultaneously, marking one of India’s largest housewarming events ever.
The state’s sand policy has been instrumental in providing up to 20 tonnes of free sand to beneficiaries, speeding up construction and reducing costs. Since 2014, the TDP government has constructed nearly 8 lakh houses. Continuing this legacy, the current NDA government has completed 3 lakh houses within just 17 months.
The previous administration had cancelled over 4.7 lakh sanctioned houses and withheld payments to 2.7 lakh families, causing major delays. The current government cleared those dues, revived stalled projects, and provided much-needed relief to poor families.
Chief Minister Naidu reiterated that “ensuring every poor family owns a home is our government’s top priority.” More houses are under construction and will be handed over soon. Ministers and local representatives will take part in the celebrations across districts, making it a proud and memorable day for Andhra Pradesh.
