Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy strongly criticized the Indian National Congress over its alleged stance on the Women’s Reservation Bill, calling it a “dark day in the history of Indian democracy.” He stated that at a time when millions of women across the country are aspiring for dignity and political representation, the Congress party has disappointed them by opposing the legislation. He further remarked that such actions not only reflect political intent but also amount to disrespecting women’s empowerment.
Reddy also accused the Congress leadership of prioritizing power over women’s rights, alleging that the party has deliberately delayed the implementation of 33% reservation for women in legislative bodies for decades. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for pushing the bill forward, and alleged that Congress and its allies attempted to obstruct it with excuses. According to him, fear of losing political ground has driven such opposition, and he warned that women across the nation are closely observing these developments and will respond decisively.
