Adobe has appointed Anil Chakravarthy as its new Chief Executive Officer, marking another leadership transition for the global software giant under an Indian-origin executive. Chakravarthy is scheduled to take charge on December 1, succeeding Shantanu Narayen, who has led the company as CEO for nearly two decades. Narayen will continue his association with Adobe as Executive Chairman.
The leadership change comes at a crucial time for Adobe as artificial intelligence continues to reshape the creative and design software industry. Chakravarthy joined Adobe in 2020 and has held several key responsibilities, including leading its Digital Experience business, overseeing customer support operations and managing global sales. Before joining Adobe, he served as CEO of cloud data-management company Informatica for four years.
Chakravarthy studied Computer Science and Engineering at IIT Varanasi, earning a Bachelor of Technology degree, and later completed his Master’s and PhD at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Narayen said he believes Chakravarthy is the right person to lead Adobe’s growth in the AI era.
