The date of birth (DoB) in Aadhaar can normally be updated only once. However, UIDAI allows a second or subsequent correction under exceptional circumstances through its exception-handling process. At present, DoB updates are not supported through the online portal. Applicants need to visit an Aadhaar Seva Kendra and submit valid supporting documents.
For a second DoB correction, the documents required depend on what was submitted previously. In applicable cases, applicants may need to provide a Birth Certificate, corrected Birth Certificate and an affidavit. If the error occurred because of an operator mistake, UIDAI’s SOP provides a route to seek correction using the previously submitted document or, in certain circumstances, a self-declaration. Submission of false or fraudulent documents can lead to strict action.
