Mandaadi OTT Deal Turns Into a Jackpot..

OTT has now become an integral part of the film business. In the past, streaming platforms often acquired movie rights before release, irrespective of a film’s eventual box-office performance. However, increasing competition and changing market dynamics have led OTT companies to adopt performance-based agreements for some projects. Suhas and Soori-starrer ‘Mandaadi’ is reportedly one such film, and the deal could prove highly beneficial for producer Elred Kumar.

Directed by Mathimaran Pugazhendi, ‘Mandaadi’ is a sports-action drama released in both Tamil and Telugu. The film has received a positive response at the box office, with the makers claiming that it grossed Rs.65 crore in just five days. According to reports, Netflix initially offered Rs.15 crore for the streaming rights, while the producer had sought Rs.25 crore. The two sides reportedly agreed on a performance-linked deal: Netflix would pay Rs.30 crore if the film crossed Rs.50 crore gross, and Rs.40 crore if it collected between Rs.60 crore and Rs.80 crore. With the makers claiming a Rs.65 crore gross already, the producer stands to benefit significantly. If the film maintains its momentum, crossing the Rs.100-crore mark could further strengthen its box-office and OTT prospects.
