Kannada star Yash will be seen as Ravana in the much-anticipated film Ramayana, which is being made on a grand scale based on the Indian epic. Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Rama, while Sai Pallavi portrays Sita. Yash recently revealed that his son was surprised when he learnt that his father was playing Ravana rather than Rama. Yash said he explained the story of the Ramayana to his son and clarified that portraying a negative character does not mean endorsing the character’s wrongful actions. He also spoke to his children about Lord Rama’s values and virtues, encouraging them to look up to him as an ideal.
Yash added that he told his son he could enjoy his father’s performance on screen but should not take Ravana’s character as an inspiration. His son then asked whether Ravana would lose the battle and die at the end of the film, a question Yash said he had not anticipated. He explained that he had to help his son understand the difference between an actor and the character he portrays. Meanwhile, Ramayana is scheduled for release on November 5 and is reportedly witnessing strong advance bookings. Trade sources say more than 400,000 tickets had been sold in India by Saturday morning, generating around ₹20 crore in advance sales. The worldwide advance booking figure is said to have reached ₹40 crore.
