A tragic fire accident in Goa claimed the lives of 23 people, prompting Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to personally visit the incident site and review the situation. He sought detailed information from officials regarding the cause of the accident and possible safety lapses inside the club. “A thorough investigation will be conducted. It is extremely unfortunate that 23 people, including three women and four tourists, have died. Preliminary information suggests the club failed to follow basic safety rules. Strict action will be taken against those responsible,” the CM stated. According to the police, the incident occurred around midnight at ‘Birch by Romeo Lane’, a club near Baga Beach. A cylinder blast is suspected to have triggered the massive fire. Fire tenders rushed to the spot immediately, and rescue operations continued until early Sunday morning.
CM Pramod Sawant expressed deep shock over the incident and conveyed his condolences to the families of the victims. He instructed officials to initiate a detailed probe through a special investigation team. Authorities confirmed that the club had violated multiple safety norms, which likely contributed to the tragedy. The Chief Minister reiterated that stringent action will be taken without fail. Local MLA Michael Lobo also inspected the site and emphasized the need for strict enforcement of safety standards to prevent such incidents in the future.
