Ukraine has once again launched a drone attack on the Ust-Luga port, a critical hub for Russia's oil exports. Exports from this port had already been halted following an attack a week ago, which had left the facility damaged. Reports indicate that the latest attack has inflicted further damage. The Governor of the Leningrad region confirmed the incident, stating that several drones were shot down.
Located in the Baltic Sea region, this port plays a pivotal role in Russia's oil export operations. It is estimated that approximately 45% of Russia's seaborne oil shipments originate from this region. Roughly 1.72 million barrels of oil are exported from this facility daily. The situation has been further complicated by recent attacks that also damaged the Primorsk port.
Experts suggest that these attacks could impact the Russian economy, particularly at a time when the global oil market is facing a crisis. Ukraine has been carrying out a series of attacks specifically targeting Russia's energy sector. These developments are also having repercussions on the international oil market.
