Amidst a global energy crisis triggered by the conflict in West Asia, India has extended a helping hand to its ally. In response to the difficulties Sri Lanka is facing due to a shortage of oil, India has urgently supplied 38,000 metric tonnes of petroleum. The Indian High Commission in Colombo confirmed this development.
This assistance was provided following recent discussions between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. The consignment, comprising 20,000 metric tonnes of diesel and 18,000 metric tonnes of petrol, has arrived at the Colombo port. Sri Lanka has expressed its gratitude to India for providing assistance during this critical period.
