In a stern move, Transco has directed striking electricity artisans to immediately call off their protest and report back to duty by 11 a.m. on Thursday, failing which they will be deemed dismissed from service. The authorities issued orders on Wednesday, emphasizing that power supply falls under essential services as per the Telangana Essential Services Maintenance Act (TESMA), which prohibits strikes in electricity departments.
Transco further clarified that the ongoing strike is illegal under TESMA and instructed all temporary employees (artisans) who have not yet resumed work to do so without delay. It also pointed out that the Telangana Electricity Artisans Joint Action Committee had previously approached the Industrial Tribunal regarding their demands. However, resorting to a strike while the matter is still under judicial consideration is a violation of established norms.
