During the Kedarnath Yatra, a pilgrim from Gujarat reportedly died of a heart attack, with his family alleging severe delays in transporting the body. According to the deceased’s son, his father’s body remained at the site for several hours even after the incident. He claimed that the family was initially advised to carry the body down on foot, which caused them significant distress and hardship. Eventually, they arranged a private helicopter at a cost of approximately ₹65,000 to bring the body back.
Reacting to the incident, the son questioned why helicopters are readily available for VIP travel while ordinary people in emergency situations are forced to face delays and high expenses. The incident has triggered widespread discussion on social media. Many users have raised concerns over the availability of emergency services and infrastructure in high-altitude pilgrimage regions, as well as the challenges faced by common devotees. However, authorities have not yet issued a detailed response regarding the allegations made by the family.
