As part of the Char Dham Yatra, the doors of the Kedarnath Temple were opened to devotees on Wednesday. Located in the Garhwal Himalayan mountain range, the sacred shrine witnessed a massive influx of pilgrims on the very first day. Thousands of devotees arrived, turning the temple premises into a crowded zone. At one stage, managing the rush became a major challenge for temple authorities. The queues arranged for darshan were completely packed and some devotees reportedly attempted to move from one queue line to another in violation of regulations. This led to minor scuffles and verbal arguments among pilgrims. Videos related to the incident are now going viral on social media.
After a six-month closure, the Kedarnath Temple was reopened on the 22nd of this month and will remain open for the next six months for devotees. The shrine is scheduled to close again on November 11 this year. Every year, the temple is temporarily shut during winter due to extreme cold weather conditions in the region. Meanwhile, the Char Dham Yatra in the Uttarakhand Himalayas began on the 19th of this month. On the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, the Gangotri and Yamunotri temples were opened, followed by Kedarnath on the 22nd and Badrinath on the 23rd. Authorities have made special arrangements to ensure a smooth and hassle-free pilgrimage experience for devotees.
