In the case related to the murder of Dalit youth Veedhi Subrahmanyam, the prime accused in the witness intimidation case, Kadiyala Chinnababu, is reported to be a close associate of former minister Kurasala Kannababu. According to allegations, Chinnababu was involved in several land dealings during the previous regime, reportedly encroaching lands under the guise of real estate business and settling disputes at undervalued prices. In the Kakinada rural constituency, which has a significant extent of assigned (Bhoodan) lands, he is accused of creating forged documents to कब्जा disputed properties, especially those owned by individuals residing abroad. A previous land dispute case had also been registered against him at the Sarpavaram police station nearly a decade ago.
Police investigations revealed that witnesses in the murder case were allegedly confined and threatened inside an apartment in Siddharthanagar, Kakinada. The flat used for intimidation is reportedly linked to a personal aide of the former minister. Along with Chinnababu, Kadiyala Satish, Maganti Rambabu, and an advocate are said to be involved in the case. Rambabu has been taken into custody, while police are searching for the remaining accused. Authorities have also issued notices to the advocate for questioning. Earlier complaints, including a land encroachment allegation by a differently-abled woman, were reportedly settled without further legal action. The investigation is ongoing.
