

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently on a visit to West Bengal. During his trip, he enjoyed a boat ride on the Hooghly River in Kolkata. Capturing the scenic beauty of the river, he also took photographs and shared them on his X (formerly Twitter) account. Modi described the Hooghly River as deeply connected with Bengal’s culture, emphasizing that the Ganga holds a special place in the lives of Bengalis and its waters carry the spirit of an ancient civilization.
He further stated that he spent some time along the banks of the Hooghly River in the morning. During this visit, he interacted with boatmen as well as local residents who were out for their morning walks, appreciating the hard work of the boat operators. Modi also remarked that if elected, his government would remain committed to the development and welfare of West Bengal. He described his time on the riverbank as a memorable experience and expressed delight in viewing the historic Vidyasagar Setu and Howrah Bridge up close.
