APCC Chief YS Sharmila Reddy has severely criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi's stance regarding the Women's Reservation Bill. She stated that he frequently shifts his position on the Women's Bill, acting like a "modern-day chameleon" in his ability to change colors. She alleged that, under the guise of 'Nari Shakti' (Women's Power), he is attempting to introduce a Delimitation Bill solely to reap political benefits. She expressed outrage, asserting that the Central Government lacks sincerity in implementing women's reservations and is instead leveling false accusations against the opposition parties.
Questioning why the Women's Reservation Bill—which was approved as recently as 2023—has not yet been implemented, Sharmila asked why a fresh amendment bill was introduced to link the issue with delimitation. She clarified that the Congress party remains committed to the implementation of the 33 percent reservation for women. She demanded that delimitation be conducted scientifically and that justice be ensured for SCs, STs, and OBCs based on the caste census. Furthermore, she urged that women's reservations be implemented immediately, independent of the delimitation process.
