A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Supreme Court of India seeking the introduction of biometric identification at polling stations to curb bogus voting. The petition urges authorities to implement fingerprint and iris-based verification systems to ensure greater transparency and authenticity in the electoral process.
Hearing the plea, the apex court has issued notices to the Government of India and the Election Commission of India, asking them to respond to the proposal. The move is seen as a potential step toward strengthening electoral integrity and preventing fraudulent voting practices across the country.
