A major development in Visakhapatnam is set to significantly enhance the income of the revered Simhachalam Varaha Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple. With the establishment of a data center by Google, the temple is expected to earn substantial revenue through a land lease agreement. Around 160 acres of temple-owned land have been leased for 11 years, generating an annual income of ₹26.45 crore, amounting to nearly ₹300 crore over the lease period. Initially, multiple land parcels were considered, including sites in Madhurawada and Adavivaram, but officials opted for a strategic leasing approach to ensure steady income for the temple.
After several rounds of discussions between government departments, approval was granted to lease 160 acres of land located near Adavivaram and Mudasaralova to APIIC. According to Ramachandra Mohan, the lease amount will increase by 5% every five years. Previously, the land generated only modest income through agriculture, but this initiative will now bring in a significant and consistent revenue stream for the temple. The move is expected to strengthen temple finances while also contributing to the region’s technological growth.
