The Tamil Nadu Assembly elections are scheduled to be held in a single phase on April 23 across all 234 constituencies. Campaigning is set to conclude shortly as preparations for polling are nearly complete. A total of 4,023 candidates are contesting in this election. According to a recent report by ADR, the number of wealthy candidates has increased significantly. The report states that 981 candidates have assets worth more than ₹5 crore.
It also highlighted a rise in the number of candidates with criminal cases, making it a notable aspect of this election. Among the candidates, TVK chief Vijay is ranked second in terms of declared assets.
