Actor and TVK president Vijay is reportedly planning to seek a mutual divorce from his wife Sangeetha. It is already known that Sangeetha had filed a petition in court seeking divorce. With the case scheduled for hearing on Monday, discussions were reportedly held in Chennai on Saturday between lawyers representing both sides.
Sources say that property settlement was also discussed as part of the mutual divorce proceedings. Based on Vijay’s declared assets, Sangeetha is said to have sought a settlement of Rs. 250 crore. She has also reportedly demanded separate settlements for their son and daughter. Reports further state that Vijay agreed to provide Rs. 35 crore as settlement to Sangeetha and expressed willingness to take responsibility for the children.
Meanwhile, Sangeetha has filed an interim petition seeking permission to stay at Vijay’s residence in Neelangarai, Chennai, until the case is concluded. Along with the divorce petition, this plea is also scheduled to come up for hearing on Monday before the Chengalpattu Principal Sessions Court. Citing election campaign commitments, Vijay’s legal team reportedly filed a petition on the 17th of this month requesting permission for him to attend the hearing online instead of appearing in person.
