A powerful earthquake struck Indonesia, registering a magnitude of 7.4 on the Richter scale. According to the USGS, the epicenter was located in the Molucca Sea, about 127 kilometers from Ternate Island. Following the quake, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center warned of possible tsunami waves affecting Indonesia, the Philippines, and Malaysia. In response, the Indonesian government has issued tsunami alerts.
