

The Chief Election Commissioner has announced key details regarding the upcoming Assembly elections in three states. A total of 1,906 candidates are contesting for 296 seats across Assam, Kerala, and Puducherry. Among them, Assam accounts for 126 seats with 722 candidates, while Kerala has 140 seats with 890 candidates. Puducherry will witness contests in 30 seats with 294 candidates in the fray.
Polling in all three regions is scheduled to be held on April 9. In addition, by-elections are also being conducted in other states. Goa will see three candidates contesting in a bypoll, while Karnataka has 34 candidates competing for two seats. In Nagaland, six candidates are in the race for a single seat. Election authorities are making necessary arrangements to ensure smooth and fair polling.
